I discovered long ago that practically everything mainstream recommends has more to do with marketing and money than common sense. Sometimes however, it requires a double-take, because some of the bad advice sounds so logical, it's hard to ignore it.
We are told for instance that good dental hygiene can help prevent gingivitis and periodontitis. The American Dental Association recommends that everyone brush twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste, clean between the teeth with floss or an interdental cleaner. Have regular visits with a dentist for teeth cleaning and oral examinations.
Did you fall asleep yet? Not quite done, well the American Dental Association also suggests that antimicrobial mouthwashes may provide additional oral health benefits for preventing and reducing gingivitis and plaque. However, they are not a substitute for daily brushing and flossing.
Certain types of bacteria are a main threat to gum diseases and teeth health and what you eat and choose not to eat could make a greater difference in your oral health than anything the American Dental Association recommends.
When I was a kid, I wondered why animals in the wild seemed to thrive without regular visits to the dentist with fluoride brushings and the like. Maybe they didn't eat the junk we humans do, and if I eat some really "good" junk food, my breath will remind me of it the next morning.
Fermented food and probiotics can be the missing link to good oral hygiene. Over a decade ago, my gums were suffering something awful and my breath wasn't what I thought it should be, so I would rinse out my mouth with strong oral antiseptics.
I would get that "very fresh feeling" using good mouthwashes and/or oral antiseptics, but maybe something was missing. Fermented foods like homemade yogurt (not store bought so much) contains active bacteria that help reduce levels of hydrogen sulfide (CH3SCH3), one of the major causes of bad breath. Researchers have found that eating yogurt reduces levels of hydrogen sulfide in 80 percent of volunteers tested.
Before I continue, let's explore the hydrogen sulfide link a bit further. In Male pattern baldness (MPB), oral sulfur-containing gases were found to be significant in baldness patterns, independent of age in the level of CH3SCH3 and severe MPB in subjects with gastrointestinal diseases, hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia.
Before even thinking about reaching for your oral antiseptic, know that study on chlorhexidine mouthwash prevented the bacterial conversion from nitrate to nitric oxide. What this means is that certain bacteria in your oral cavity are necessary to help reduce blood pressure and allow for normal erections. Nitric oxide is the chemical gas necessary for healthy blood flow. The point being, not all the bacteria in your mouth is "bad."
The emphasis here is bacterial balance. If you get bad breath, I have an alternative suggestion to mouthwash. Rinsing your mouth with Xylitol. Xylitol can come from corn or the birch tree and it's potent against oral bacteria. I rinse my mouth with this regularly and it works!
Xylitol usage is actually endorsed by the Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, British, Irish and Estonian Dental Associations. If you're on the go, seek out some xylitol gum. Just beware that often gum will be laced with aspartame, splenda, acesulfame potassium. It's not easy to spot, so look out for "Phenylketonurics: Contains Phenylalanine" at the bottom of the label, this is a sure sign that it has aspartame.
I should mention some mainstream advice that happens to be true, smoking can significantly worsen bad bacteria in the oral cavity to a factor of ten.
Another way to fight bad breath and maintain oral hygiene is to take probiotics and of course fermented foods like yogurt, mentioned earlier. Also check to be sure you're producing enough stomach acid. If the food you just ate hours ago is still sitting in your stomach and you're experiencing reflux, try taking betaine hydrochloride tablets during your next meal. If they go down easier, stomach acid could be the missing link.
If the above advice doesn't clear up your halitosis (bad breath), you could have a more serious problem, such as an abscess in a tooth that is dead or has a root canal. In either case, if the tooth is dead, you won't have any pain sensation, but your breath will have the smell of decay.

A diagnosis of cancer scares patients straight into a spiraling cascade of debt and hopelessness while the industry reponsible for the real life horror movie inflates its coffers.
The essential difference between a living and dying cancer patient is metastasis. That means the spread of cancer and it promotes its own growth by sending chemical signals to initiate the growth of new blood vessels. Without a vital blood supply, tumors cannot grow.
The body regulates the growth of new blood vessel development, called angiogenesis, however cancer disrupts local control by stimulating the body's production of blood vessel growth to a maximum output. In this case, tumors are fed all the nutrients they need to grow and invade nearby organs.
When a tumor is surgically removed, the patient is often told that they are now "cancer free," but then it returns. Almost fifty percent of cancer patients experience growth of metastases, which can occur years after the original tumor was removed. Chemotherapy just makes things worse, living things, malicious or not "like" to live and to insure its survival can become more aggressive.
Researchers have recognized the need to cut off tumor blood supply by downregulating VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) overexpression. Some years ago it was reported that EGCG from green tea inhibits angiogenesis by as much as 90% for some types of cancer.
However, there is a natural substance that inhibits angiogenesis one hundred times better than any other natural substance yet discovered and without any toxicity. Even better, it works for all types of cancer!
Convolvulus arvensis is a common weed, also known as bindweed. Convolvulus arvensis contains proteoglycan molecules (PGMs), which are are recognized as the active constituent. The whole plant contains toxic alkaloids, so only a water soluble extract, consisting of these PGMs is going to offer some real hope and safety with combating a rapidly growing cancer.
Based on the research, the proteoglycan molecules of convolvulus arvensis inhibit tumor growth between 70 and 99.5%.
Harvard physicians were once perplexed with the question of why new tumors develop after conventional treatments. Eventually they discovered that cells in the body normally produce, in balance, proteins that both inhibit and stimulate blood vessel growth.
However when a malignant tumor is excised, there are still plenty of tumors in the body. Cancer is a fungus and this fungus has many spores floating around in the blood stream. With the primary tumor now removed, the "baby" tumors have nothing to prevent them from rapidly growing. When the primary tumor existed, it inhibited its microscopic neighbors (tumors) from reaching a nearby blood supply.
Mainstream utilizes toxic anti-angiogenesis drugs such as Avastin. The problem is that drugs are not "smart," and they act more like a light switch, initiating a function to be either "on" or "off" rather than modulated, or condition essential. Angiogenesis is an essential function in the body, especially for wound healing. Side-effects of anti-angiogenesis drugs are inflammation of the eye, vein clots and cardiovascular diseases just to name a few.
So look for AngioBlock by Nutricology instead, it is an extract of field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis) containing proteoglycan molecules. It's important to note that Convolvulus arvensis works much better if it is used in conjuction with AHCC (Active Hexose Correlated Compound). AHCC is a very potent immune stimulant and consists of a proprietary extract of hybridized mushrooms, well studied for its effects on macrophages and NK (natural killer) cells.

If you read, watch television or listen to the radio, maybe you've heard of the idea of medical health screenings. Early detection sounds good, but are these "health" screens really viable or are they something to be leary of?
Over the last several years I have come to a very strong conclusion, that almost all medical screenings are more dangerous than life saving.
Many medical screenings have become more like marketing and promotional tools. At the most basic level is a blood pressure test, but most are not aware that there is simply no benefit in medically lowering blood pressure below 140/100.
In contrast, research shows those with natural, non-medicated blood pressure readings of 115/70 have fewer heart attacks. In other words, drugs offer no benefit unless your blood pressure is above 140/100. Natural methods will benefit just about anyone, and more importantly focusing on the real cause of high blood pressure is the real key to success.
I mentioned before that DEXA-scans do not measure bone strength, only density. Unfortunately this test usually leads to unnecessary treatments.
Cholesterol screenings are another promotion tool, but instead of the focus on why cholesterol maybe "too high," it is how to get it within "acceptable range," usually via a statin drug which causes many more problems that it solves. The only benefit to statin drugs is not the cholesterol lowering effect, it is the fact that they lower C-reactive protein levels (CRP), which is a measure of inflammation that often affects the arteries.
Instead of taking a dangerous statin drug to reduce CRP levels, just take a thousand milligrams of vitamin C.
Checking your PSA level (prostate specific antigen) is a type of screen rife with problems. It can open up a pandora's box of problems that lead to biopies, invasive surgery leading to more problems than it solves. PSA can be useful as an indication of inflammation, but as a prostate cancer detection tool, it cannot be relied on.
Virtually all cancer screening devices are useless. It matters not if they are the most advanced imaging machines or not, because cancer remains undetectable until millions of cells are present. Cancer is the ultimate profit generator, leading to test after test, and dangerous treatment proceeds another until "quality of life" drugs are implemented to keep pain within managable levels.
What I am stating is, there is little benefit to "early detection."
Cardiology scans looking to indicate clogged arteries are pointless. When major arteries occlude, the body naturally grows new arteries, called collaterals. Constricted arteries are not the cause of heart attacks or strokes, but regardless that's what most doctors and lay persons believe, so the surgeries continue.
Computed tomography or CT-scans are widely used for a number of screens, but are very dangerous. Avoid these unless it is a matter of life or death. Too many are used for conditions which are non-threatening. CT-scans generate hundreds of times more radiation than a standard x-ray.
What CT-scans do well is generate billions of dollars in revenue for potentially dangerous and deadly procedures.
Mammography is another worthless screen that causes more problems than it solves. One cancer expert, Dr. Michael Baum of University College Hospital, London, I think describes mammography best by stating, 'I think there is a deception going on.' Very simply, the latest statistics show that mammograms don't save lives. And half of all women diagnosed with 'early breast cancer' may be having mastectomies for nothing.
The radiation used in mammography increases the actual risk of cancer by 10% each year, and in those who have a genetic predisposition may have over a 400% increase with each visit! If the tissue does contain cancer, the routine act of compressing the breasts just increases the risk of metastasis (cancer spread).

Back Pain is a common condition where answers seem dubious when one has already spent years of seeing surgeons and chiropractors.
Chiropractic adjustments can work in some cases, but not all adjustments will hold. When they fail to work it's because the gracilis and sartorium muscles are too weak.
The primary cause is low adrenal function. If you're suffering specifically from low back pain, then this is almost always the reason. The gracilis and sartorium muscles are located in the pelvic region and when they are weak the bones move out of proper alignment. The result is low back pain, such as sciatica or pinched nerves.
Check for signs of low adrenal function, such as a drop in systolic blood pressure when standing up immediately from a laying position. Physical signs are constant tiredness, need for extra sleep, sensitivity to stress, low sex drive, frequent sighing, frequent infections, cravings for sweets, anxiety, and abdominal fat accumulation.
If you're positive for low adrenal function, then begin taking glandulars such as pituitary, thymus, adrenal and thyroid, along with iodine. Six-months later, try another chiropractor adjustment.
If you've suffered from a back injury or have torn ligaments and tendons, diagnostics such as MRI, X-Ray and other such screens are utterly useless. Patients have little idea that bulges, and bone malformation have nothing to do with back pain. If they did, then surgery would be more than 1% successful.
Real candidates for back surgery only account for 1% that actually get results. Ligament tears are frequently the real problem. Taking out discs, fusing them, and other such procedures are expensive and rarely work.
One of the most basic treatments for back pain is taking magnesium. Surprisingly, a great number of patients are helped just by increasing their magnesium intake. Spraying on magnesium oil would work even faster. It's something to try first before exploring other options.
If you've tried everything above with no result, then the best option is to try an advanced type of prolotherapy called Prolozone.
Prolozone is an injection of oxygen, Procaine and ozone into the affected area. This therapy regenerates new cartilage by stimulating growth factors. Where the pain resides is always oxygen deficient. Prolozone addresses this directly allowing the body to heal itself.
Procaine, is an anesthetic which immediately takes the pain away but lasts long enough for the ligaments and tendons to be repaired by this injection.
If you live in the United States, use the provided link below to find a practioner.

Previously, I mentioned biophosphonate drugs, but yet another drug emerged in Late 2002, and there was a bit of excitement about it. Forteo is the name marketed for the drug teriparatide and is given by injection daily. In laboratory tests it caused cancerous bone tumors in rats. I might be wrong, but didn't the FDA outlaw the approval of any drug that causes cancer in rats? Actually they did, so Forteo provides a blackbox warning right on the label.
While I'm at it, might as well mention that the other osteoporosis drugs, the biphosphonates increase the risk of atrial fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation is an irregular heart rhythm that is a precursor to the blood clots that cause strokes and heart attacks. The actual risk ranges as high as 68 percent.
The mentality behind the use of these drugs is that perhaps the benefits outweigh the risks. I beg to differ, because there are many safer options. They're simply not promoted by the medical establishment.
One of the safer options doesn't include loading up on calcium. Overdosing on this mineral can lead to osteoarthritis, cardiovascular disease, stroke, joint pain, fatigue, cancer, and even osteoporosis itself. How's that for a paradox?
As stated previously, calcium is "nothing" without other minerals and the most important of these is magnesium.
There have been several important studies that prove this. In just one of them, patients were put on a low-magnesium diet along with plenty of calcium and vitamin D. In time, this created a shortage of magnesium. What wasn't expected was that the patients also became deficient in calcium as well.
In contrast, when the patients were given magnesium, not only did their magnesium levels rise, but their calcium levels were raised too despite taking no added calcium. Too much calcium inhibits magnesium, and without enough magnesium, your bones cannot absorb any calcium.
This is a classic example of why I despise mainstream medicine, because usually they miss something very critical. They forget that nutrients are not drugs, they require the whole composite, not just a constituent.
In the Journal of Reproductive Medicine found that the women who took 500 milligrams of calcium and 600 milligrams of magnesium improved sixteen times greater than those women who relied on diet alone when it came to reversing postmenopausal bone loss.
While there are limited studies, the mineral boron is considered to prevent the loss of bone. Also be sure that your multi-vitamin contains some manganese, zinc, copper and some silicon (also known as silica).
I saved the most important mineral (other than magnesium) for last. The mineral strontium is a must have if you're really concerned about osteoporosis. All together, look for a multi-mineral formula that contains one to three milligrams of boron, some five to ten milligrams of manganese, 15 to 30 milligrams of zinc, and copper should range at one to three milligrams. Strontium should be taken at 300 to 600 milligrams depending on prevention verses reversal.
If you're currently taking calcium, make sure you take your strontium seperately, as they will compete for absorption. However, as mentioned before, you probably do not need any extra calcium.
Vitamins also have their place in osteoporosis treatment and prevention. Natural forms are preferable to synthetic isolates. Particular attention should be paid towards vitamins B6, B-12, and folic acid because they keep a lid on levels of homocysteine.
Based on animal research, Omega-3 fatty acids increase factors involved with bone growth. There is much anecdotal information on humans and bone growth if you look into the research of Weston A. Price on the use of vitamin rich cod-liver oil and grass-fed butter oil, which is rich in vitamin K2.
What about hormone replacement therapy? Yes, that will help just as long as it's bio-identical hormones. Bio-identical estrogen preserves the antioxidant glutathione which helps bone, and bio-identical progesterone helps to build bone as well. Ladies should be checked for testosterone, they need this hormone too, just in smaller amounts than men.
It's been widely reported that weight bearing exercises help with bone building and it is very true. But what if there is a patient who is considered too fragile for such a work out? Look no further than whole body vibration therapy.
Whole body vibration therapy is a device based on 40 years of research, and it surpasses conventional weight bearing exercise. One device, called the Power Plate works by constant vibration at 20 to 50 times a second in three directions. It also increases g-forces on the body. The patient merely has to stand in place while gripping on to the handle bars. Just 10 minutes a day, three times a week is all that is required.
Based on studies, the bone building effect is truly extraordinary, and at the same time induces significant weight loss. The vibrations activate Wnt signaling, and personally I was initially intrigued with this idea since this suggests that such vibrations may block DKK-1, a negative gene involved in hair loss and osteoporosis.
Essentially what happens is that fat tissue is literally converted into bone tissue, quite amazing really. The downside is the price, as the Power Plate and similar devices can cost over a thousand dollars per unit.
I have thought over the years that vibrations of this sort reminded me of the sensation of skateboarding over a side-walk. It turns out I wasn't the only one who thought of this, because the company Soloflex, has sold over 30,000 skateboard like units for $295. They vibrate just like a moving skateboard and are handle-free platforms.
If you're not that fragile, this is worth investigating.

Osteoporosis conjures up the notion of calcium deficiency, yet how much calcium is administered has little to do with bone strength and integrity. It makes little difference how much calcium is received through dietary sources, because there are other factors that really make or break the hips.
If you visit most convalecent centers, very little of growing or being strong is to be found in terms of nutrients. You're more likely to discover prescription medications for biophosphonate drugs, such as Fosamax, Actonel, Boniva, and Reclast.
Doctors will evaluate a patient for osteopenia or osteoporosis by way of the DEXA scan. A more thorough check would involve Urine Pyrolinks for bone turn over, Thyroid Panel, Metabolic and Hepatic panels, and insulin resistance.
Usually the doctor may suggest a biophosphonate drug along with some added calcium. In both cases the recommendations are......(drum roll)............100% wrong (cymbal crash)!
If the patient is really unlucky, they have already been taking anti-acid drugs also prescribed by their doctor. But before I get ahead of myself, let's delve into why biophosphonate drugs are not the "Gold Standard" medical treatment that so many doctors have been lead to believe.
Biophosphonate drugs prevents the body from its natural, biological activity, to remove worn out and diseased bone. The price of slowing down bone breakdown comes at a price.
While these drugs do increase bone density, they do not enhance bone strength or integrity. In fact, the bones now have more diseased tissue than they did before and are more subject to breaking than before.
It gets worse, because there are other complications when a natural process is perturbed. Muscle pains appear, and there is the potential necrosis of the jaw bone in some users. The truth is, it's not the density of the bone that matters, it's the strength and integrity of the bone that will prevent a fracture of the hip or an outright bone break.
Ever wonder why you hear so much about seniors falling? It's not their balance, it's often the fracture itself that causes the fall in the first place.
I mentioned before that many individuals concerned about osteoporosis are already taking anti-acids or prescription H2 blockers. The problem here is two-fold, a lack of stomach acid for one impairs the digestion of protein. This is a real serious problem because bones are made up of protein by one-third!
The other reason suppressing stomach acid is bad is due to reduced mineral absorption. Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, Boron, Strontium and other minerals are not absorbed properly without sufficent stomach acid.
I also mentioned that supplemental calcium usually does little good for osteoporosis. The explanation is complicated and would require several paragraphs, so the short answer is that only about 700 to 800 milligrams of calcium maximally is required and often this is supplied by the diet. Any more calcium could increase the risk of heart disease.
What's more important than calcium is other nutrients that insure its utilization and other factors not directly involving calcium.
Considering all the media attention vitamin D is now receiveing it's no longer a mystery that a paltry RDA level of 400 IU will fail to activate calcium. Many seniors who are sheltered from the sun are probably not getting enough, so fundamentally they would be best served by bringing their levels of vitamin D somewhere between 70 to 90 ng/mL. If you haven't heard, calcium is almost useless without enough vitamin D.
Beware of statin drug use, such as Lipitor, Zocor, Vytorin, and others. Cholesterol is required in order to convert Vitamin D into useable form. Besides that, statin drugs rarely have their place in medicine.
One important factor in building bone involves a hormone called osteocalcin. Osteocalcin improves insulin production and insulin sensitivity. Since osteoporosis is a disease that occurs with aging, it's probably no surprise that insulin resistance is a significant contributing factor. Insuring there is adequate antioxidant intake is a crucial step to keep osteocalcin levels high enough to promote osteoblasts, cells that create bone.
A very critical, yet overlooked vitamin deficiency that adversely effects bone strength and integrity is Vitamin K2. Being low on Vitamin K2 will not allow the hormone, osteocalcin to attract calcium and instead of targeting bone tissue can wind up in other parts of the body, such as the arterial walls.
Osteoporosis is really a disease of misdirected calcium rather than a deficiency of calcium, a paradox that has been ignored by mainstream medicine. Please beware that a study from Denmark found that dietary vitamin K did not show any protection against osteoporosis. However, that was using vitamin K1 from dietary sources. Vitamin K2 is a different "animal" and has profound effects on bone growth.
If an osteoporosis patient is taking coumadin or warfarin, they are told to avoid supplements or foods containing vitamin K of any type. However, this idea is seriously flawed and the good news is that ignoring this advice actually stabilizes a patient's INR (international normalized ratio), a measure of how quickly blood coagulates, or clots.
In a double-blind, controlled study, 70 warfarin-treated patients with unstable anticoagulant control were randomly assigned to receive 150 mcg of oral vitamin K or placebo daily for six months. Of the 35 patients receiving vitamin K supplementation, anticoagulation control improved in 33 patients, including 19 in whom vitamin K supplementation resulted in stable control of anticoagulation. By contrast, only 24 of 33 patients receiving placebo improved to some extent in their degree of anticoagulation control, and only 7 achieved stable control.
There have been further studies in this regard to date and would recommend presenting these to the doctor. It could literally be a matter of life or death, not to mention better bone integrity.
Protecting yourself from osteoporosis requires many dietary tools, so there is much more to cover. Look out for Part Two of this discussion.

Ever wonder when you were really young how prehistoric guys and girls managed to live their lives without toothpaste, dentists, flu shots, microwaves, etc.? The obvious answer is, they didn't need any of these!
I never really understood the nature of viruses that well until I heard a theory that I believe explains the true nature of what they are and what their purpose is. Before I dive into that, let's discuss what a virus isn't.
Viruses are not living matter, they contain no digestive system, no respiratory system, they have no intelligence. More on what viruses are not later on, because you will probably not believe what I write in the following few paragraphs.
What you're about read, not one in one million doctors believes or even knows this, because it goes against everything you, or they have ever been taught about what a virus is or does in the body.
When we eat cooked or processed food, devoid of good bacteria, enzymes and many nutrients, we produce more free-radicals than if we opted for purely raw food. This includes meat and other foods. Simply stated, if we cook our steak there will be more toxins than if we were to eat it raw.
Food "experts" will tell us that eating raw beef and chicken could harbor "dangerous" bacteria, but are they telling you the truth? I think they're telling you what they believe, but it's not wholly accurate! When foods are cooked, beneficial lactic acid bacteria is destroyed, leaving you vulnerable to otherwise unchecked bacteria that is now potentially harmful.
Yet there was a time on this earth, when we didn't have health "authorities" telling us to refrigerate our foods, we often scavenged for our food like vultures, eating uncooked, rotting meat. We didn't live in sterilized homes using antibacterial soaps and sprays. Despite all these "hazards" we didn't die or get sick as often as most people would think.
Some of the longest living cultures on this planet have been documented to harbor loads of lactic acid bacteria in their digestive systems. "Modern" medicine's orthodox approach is to destroy without prejudice, not caring to distingish between good and bad bacteria. When we expose the digestive tract to real, uncooked food, we are in essence inoculating ourselves against potential disease.
I mentioned earlier that I would explain what the real purpose of a virus is. While this has not been "proven" by health authorities, a virus is really a detergent that a cell produces in order to clean itself of toxins. Think of a virus as dishwashing soap, it seperates the water from the grease and "gunk."
If you're familiar with alternative medicine treatment, you might have heard that high dose Intravenous vitamin C is a powerful treatment against viral infection. In fact, most antioxidants are anti-viral, because what they do is help remove the toxins, so that the cells need less "detergent" or viruses to do the job. Lipoic acid both orally and intravenously work very well to treat hepatitis, B and C. BHT (Butylated hydroxytoluene) is a terrific treatment for shingles and other herpes like viruses.
Viruses do not remain dormant or lie in wait to strike like we've been told, nor are they transmittable from person to person. What's that? That's not a typo, and I realize this is a bit hard to swallow given the lifetime of brainwashing we've received from our inception and will continue to be in this area.
You might be thinking, well what about the Spanish Flu, or the Polio Virus or Herpes, or even the "scary" H1N1 the media loves to talk about?
When we are exposed to substances that contain toxins, bacteria may wage a fight, but if our body's resources are taxed beyond their ability to rid the cells toxicity, virus production will occur within that specific cell tissue to clean out those toxins.
The Spanish Flu was the first vaccine and the only people who got the Spanish Flu were the ones who got vaccinated. It is believed by some that Polio may have emerged from the initial shock to cerebrospinal fluid after the introduction of tin cans to preserve food. The Polio vaccine itself did not emerge until Polio was on its way out, as with most other viral "outbreaks."
The Amish and Mennonite communities do not get vaccinated and it is no surprise that neither suffered from Polio. Neither ate from canned foods either, so no real risk of toxin amounts of tin or whatever else may have caused a toxicity in cerebrospinal fluid.
Understand that according to this theory, a specific virus is native to specific body tissue. So in the case of herpes, it is native to skin cells and when there is vulnerability (i.e, too much toxic build-up) in the skin there is potential for the appearance of the herpes virus. What medical experts believe is a "dormant" virus is in reality, a cycle when the specific tissue cells have reached their full capacity of toxicity and must initiate production of viruses to clean themselves. Remember, viruses are actually solvents, they are the detergent that cleans out the toxins.
If you're wondering how people got the H1N1 flu, they got it because they already received a vaccine that created it. How do I know this? Animal tissue does not reside in human tissue unless it is directly injected. Simply eating animal tissue will never remain animal tissue, because it quickly becomes rendered into human protein once the body digests it.
Animal tissue and its "detergent" (viruses) can be injected into human tissue along with other foreign materials. It's almost unheard of not to have a negative reaction from receiving any kind of vaccine. Asking for a shot of "detergent" isn't going to make you healthy, it will just make you sick.
It has been recently reported that getting a seasonal flu shot doubles the risk of catching the H1N1. I will add that anyone who has never received a vaccination in their lifetime will be at zero risk for the H1N1.
Ever wonder how Africa had over 95 million cases of AIDS in one period? Some believe it is directly related to the 120 million plus Smallpox vaccines that were "generously" supplied to them that caused it. I realize that this is a difficult subject because it raises more questions that it answers and unfortunately, while I believe my sources are accurate and truthful it maybe too much to swallow.
If you're wondering about the AIDS epidemic that occured in the homosexual community, these same experts believed it was due to the Hepatitis B shot. Let's just say this is for information purposes and whether it is believable or not, there are many who have lots of credible resources to back it up. Let's get back to what viruses are.
Have you ever noticed that while a person could have more than one type of bacterial infections at once, no one suffers from more than one type of viral infection at once. If you believe in this theory, then it makes sense that when specific body tissue reaches its capacity of toxins, it will initiate the viral process to cleanse itself. The body is wise and will not initiate a release of viruses from more than a single type of body tissue at the same time.
Researchers who subscribe to conventional theories believe that viruses are disruptors instead of solvents. I guess it's a little like saying that the rubber tire tread that is dislodged from road friction in automobile tires is "the cause" not the effect of tire wear and tear.
The best way to protect yourself against viruses is to take antioxidants, especially those that boost glutathione. This antioxidant is responsible for binding to toxins for their excretion. In turn, you have a handle on preventing excess toxic build-up in cells, therefore no more flus and viral "outbreaks."
Personally, I never get the flu. It's just unheard of for me to get it--at least under normal circumstances. However, I could induce a flu if I desired by introducing a potent detoxification agent that would force a release of toxins.
The reason I am not at risk for the flu, whether it's Avian, Swine, Bird, Zebra, or other is because I keep my antioxidant and vitamin D levels to optimal levels.

Lengthy and exhaustive physical activity is heavily promoted by fitness enthusiasts, but does it really give you a longer life? If you've read the previous daily topic, "Living Longer With Greater Oxygen Capacity" you'll find the answer is no.
The body's tissues need oxygen to stay healthy and to deliver nutrients to them.
EWOT, which stands for Exercise with Oxygen Therapy is a way to get the maximum benefits of anti-aging. Exercising while breathing bottled oxygen dramatically increases the amount of oxygen in the blood plasma.
Oxygen pressure falls as you age, yet the volume of oxygen may stay the same. At the same time you may be oxygen deficient because there's not enough pressure to push the volume to in order to utilize it, you simply fall short when you need that burst of energy.
Healthy people have plenty of oxygen in their blood, but whether there is enough oxygen in the cells in another matter. As we age, we lose the ability to transfer oxygen to the cells. That said, testing for blood oxygen doesn't tell the whole story!
The higher oxygen level in the lungs drives greater oxygen into the pulmonary capillaries and this is exactly what EWOT achieves.
First thing that is needed is an oxygen bottle, attach the nasal tube and set the oxygen flow to 6 litres per minute. Secondly, you'll need to choose your exercise, it could be a stationary bike, treadmill or even walking.
The duration is 15-minutes and what you're looking to see is a noticable flushing of the skin which shows a rich oxygen in your body's cells. After a week or two of EWOT just three times a week could provide you oxygen in your cells that you haven't felt for possibly decades.
You might even notice a lot of extra power in the bedroom or whatever else you decide to do with the extra energy.
There is just one drawback, you'll probably need a doctor's prescription. Moreover, you'll need a physician who is willing, because the average MD may exclaim that your oxygen levels are fine. That said, I would recommend contacting ACAM if you live in the United States. www.acam.org.
As another precaution, I would recommend taking an anti-oxidant such as GliSODin (Superoxide Dismutase) to combat byproducts of oxygen free radicals. If you're allergic to wheat or gluten, look for an alternative to GliSODIn, since it is bound to the wheat polymer, gliadin.

The crucial difference between the average 70-year old and a 20-year old is their ability to utilize oxygen in their cells. Forty-five percent of lung capacity drops by the time the average person reaches the age of 70. The figures are not too dramatically different in decline between the ages of 20 and 50. By the time most individuals reach the age of 50, they have lost 40% of their breathing capacity.
The loss of oxygen capacity in the lungs increases risk of death from heart and brain health (think stroke and memory) and many other conditions that effect the aging process.
The good news is that it's not inevitable! In fact, you can have great oxygen capacity at age 100, just as long as you ignore conventional medicine and practice a few techniques.
Even if you've smoked for decades, there is hope. It's important to understand that as we age, our lungs literally shrink and naturally, oxygen capacity drops right along with it.
Conventional wisdom has stated time and again that aerobics and cardio is the answer to fitness, but is that really accurate? The answer is no!
Endurance aerobics and extensive cardio work outs may condition your body for distance, but they do not help with lung capacity. If you never push hard enough to catch your breath, the lungs never expand enough to reach reserve capacity.
Reserve capacity is what allows your heart and lungs to pump enough oxygen to handle high exertion, not running on a treadmill for an hour.
It's not how long you exercise that matters, it's how much exertion or how high the intensity of that exercise is. The good news is that the exercise doesn't need to be long!
Part of the secret is the rest in between exertion, and standard aerobics doesn't allow this. Endurance exercise is an unnatural process that can actually hasten your heart and lungs to shrink!
Some years ago, Harvard researchers published a study involving over 7,000 participants. The conclusion of the study found that preventing heart disease is based on the level of intensity, not endurance aerobic activity.
Other studies have shown a correlation between long distance running and sudden cardiac death.
One answer to lung fitness is high intensity interval training (HIIT). This type of exercise can be as short as 10 to 12 minutes, and never lasts for longer than 20 minutes. This type of work out only burns carbohydrate, not fat.
Once you're finished exercising by high intensity interval training, it is only then that your body kicks into the "afterburn," where it burns fat to replace the carbohydrates that were just burned. After that, the body continues to burn off stored fat for up to 24-hours post workout.
In standard aerobic conditioning, the opposite action occurs. You burn fat during your workout, while sending signals to your body, "telling it" to spare its reserve fat for future use. It's essentially as if the body thinks it needs to conserve energy as if your endurance excercise is signaling some sort of famine state.
In complete contrast to endurance aerobic exercise, high intensity interval training "trains" the body to stop making excess fat all together.
Beyond the obvious fat loss benefits, you'll experience a more muscular physique and have superior lung and oxygen capacity. Being short on space, the following web link will give several examples of how high intensity interval training works.
High intensity interval training isn't the only way to improve your lung capacity. The easiest way to improve your oxygen capacity is with one of the best anti-aging therapies for the aging body. It's called EWOT, an acronym meaning (exercise with oxygen therapy).
EWOT involves the breathing in via a cannula from of high levels of externally supplied oxygen tank while exercising. The higher oxygen level in the lungs creates a greater head of pressure to drive oxygen into the pulmonary capillaries.
This therapy can be performed in your own home, and it can make a senior feel like their 30 again, or younger depending on other factors.
In the next daily topic, will explore EWOT and other avenues that boost oxygen capacity further.

Before continuing with diabetes treatments, I should call attention to diuretic drugs commonly prescribed to diabetics.
While diabetic drugs are bad enough since they increase insulin, another class of drugs that are frequently prescribed to diabetics are Thiazide drugs. These are "water pills" which decrease water retention as a result of high blood pressure.
Typically diabetics experience swelling of the hands or feet which is a symptom of poor electrolyte imbalance and high blood pressure. The side effects are many, and one of them causes insulin regulation to worsen. In fact, pre-diabetics often get full blown diabetes as a result of taking these drugs.
Hypertension or high blood pressure is extremely common in diabetes because high glucose and insulin levels raise blood pressure. The loss of essential minerals such as magnesium promotes elevated blood pressure as well. I've got two words to describe this, pure madness!
There are many more examples of this type of treatment makes the condition worse syndrome. Maybe I'm beating a dead horse here, but if you haven't seen the "Town of Allopath" video sketch, check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4NEQzZlSDE
Continuing from the previous daily topic on diabetic treatments, one of the most vital vitamin-like substances is Lipoic acid. It raises the body's antioxidant defense systems, acts as an insulin mimick by transporting glucose into the muscles for energy, increases ATP energy to the mitochondria and effectively in time reverses a build-up of a fatty liver, which is frequently seen in diabetes.
About 25% of the western world have a condition called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This is a condition that ripens diabetes to full effect and with a regular use of lipoic acid will reverse this condition.
Other crucial supplements are Co-enzyme Q10, helping to reduce inflammation and helping fuel the mitrochondria. If water retention is problematic, toss out the lasix and thiazide drugs and take Dandelion root extract instead.
Dandelion, as in from your front lawn, dandelion? That's correct, but from a root extract. This is a superior diuretic and supplies electrolytes instead of depleting them.
Another very useful supplement is Green Tea Phytosome. Green Tea Phytosome is not an ordinary green tea extract. It is Green tea bound to a Phosphatidylcholine complex, that allow it to work for up to ten hours instead of a mere 30 minutes as with standard green tea extracts.
Green tea is a potent inhibitor of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma. This offers an anti-obesity effect by postively modifying transcription factors related to adipocyte differentiation. In English, that means that it prevents excessive fat storage and accumulation of triglycerides, which in turns improves insulin regulation.
Also important are amino acids such as Carnitine and Taurine which improve insulin regulation and prevent abnormalies found in poor glucose metabolism.
There are many other beneficial supplements that could be added to a diabetic regimen, so I will conclude this mentioning just two others. Gymnema sylvestre is a sugar destroyer and it not only helps to regenerate beta-cell islets in the pancreas, it also can inhibit the absorption of dietary sugar intake by up to 50%. If you pull a capsule apart and sprinkle some on your tongue, it will render eating anything tasting sweet quite unappealing.
Finally, there is a great importance on the health of intestinal flora. In the earlier part of the 20th century, it was believed by some that beneficial flora could cure diabetes. Western physicians have a habit of ignoring non-patentable ideas and this was no exception. Today, there is ample evidence that supplying one's self of beneficial bacteria can substantially boost glucose metabolism. I think we've only seen the tip of the iceberg on what probiotics and fermented foods have to offer.

No oral diabetes drug has ever been shown to do anything really good for any patient according to Hortin Hadler, MD, of the University of North Carolina. This comes as no surprise to me as I have seen scores of diabetes patients with all kinds of eye problems, poor leg circulation, failing kidneys, heart problems, and everything else that goes wrong with diabetes.
That said, how could diabetes drugs even be considered then, certainly there has to be some logical reason for their use right? The answer is yes and no. The "logic" is that oral diabetes drugs do effectively lower blood sugar, but in spite of that, there is absolutely no benefit--only complications.
Lowering blood sugar sounds good, but when you consider that a major trial showed that aggressive blood sugar treatment resulted in too many cardiovascular deaths to continue the study, it's hard to get excited about them. The very same results occurred some 40 years earlier using the same class of diabetes drugs we use today.
It's always amazing to me that all the focus in conventional diabetes management is strickly on blood sugar control. Then there is injectable insulin when oral drugs fail to lower blood sugar. The result is usually weight gain and more insulin resistance occurs.
Insulin is the body's primary fat storage hormone, and more insulin is just like adding more gasoline on the fire. It only fuels inflammation and weight gain. Oral diabetes drugs typically work by stimulating the pancreas to produce more insulin, so either way, it's a one-way ticket to early death.
Since poor glucose metabolism and insulin regulation accelerate aging and all the maladies that follow, there has to be a better way and there is.
The first step is to stop taking all oral diabetic medication. Sure, your blood sugar levels will rise but you'll be better off despite that--really!
Next is to leave off all refined sugar and grains for a few months. In this day and age, it's very difficult to avoid these "foods," but will help kick start success and allow a rapid recovery.
Incorporating a few key minerals is especially important. Among the essentials are Magnesium, Selenium, Vanadium, Zinc and Chromium. These precious minerals are lost in excess since with diabetes there is a wasting of minerals through the urine. Diabetes, in Greek literally means "running through" and that's what minerals do, they come out mostly unused.
The primary driving force behind diabetes is metabolic dysfunction, via the mitochondria whereby the process of making energy is compromised by a production of excess free-radicals. In order to restore generation of energy metabolism, which in turn corrects blood sugar metabolism, the usage of vitamin and vitamin-like substances are crucial.
B-complex is needed, and unfortunately for diabetics, they lose certain b-vitamins rapdily which frequently results in most diabetic complications. A food source of B-complex will help considerably, as all the fractions are there, usually bound to protein making it a more stable vehicle for absorption.
For those already suffering from complications, they will need a fat soluble form of thiamine in addition to a food based B-complex. This is called Benfotiamine, and because it's fat soluble it will remain in the tissues long enough to protect the eyes, kidneys and the vascular system, including erectile tissue.
More on diabetes treatment in the next daily topic.

Lithium is a mineral, just as Magnesium, Strontium, Sodium and Potassium. There's no money in lithium, so no matter how great it is, the media isn't about to mention it. If they do say anything about it at all, it's put into the catagory of a "drug" used for bi-polar treatment.
Based on research confirmed by MRI scans, lithium has been found to increase brain cells in the aging brain. Lithium is very useful in preventing a stroke, and the reason is related to blood flow. If a cerebral ischemic event is induced purposely for the effects of lithium in studies, it has been found that only half of the brain cells died compared to those without lithium treatment.
For the prevention of Alzheimer's, lithium is essential if you have reason to worry. Lithium strongly inhibits beta-amyloid secretion. Beta-amyloid proteins are those sticky, brown "senile" plaques associated with demenia and neurogeneration.
Lithium has another overlooked use as well, the treatment of alcoholism. In stunning research that could have been reported by mainstream media, lithium reduces alcohol intoxication and helps stabilize mood.
Know of any aggressive individuals? Some of them could benefit from low-dose lithium orotate or aspartate. In both animal and human studies, lithium has been shown to decrease aggression.
Quite recently, it has been found that Cocaine addiction can be reduced with lithium treatment. The mechanism here is Glycogen synthase kinase 3beta (GSK-3beta) which is involved in the synaptic plasticity underlying dopamine-associated behaviors and diseases. In English, that means that inhibiting GSK-3beta could help with drug sensitization, and improving adaptation of neurologic behavior. This same mechanism is probably why it is also useful in alcoholism.
Yet another application in the inhibition of glycogen synthetase kinase 3, as well as lithium-induced autophagy is the positive effect lithium may have in prion diseases. Prion diseases are rare, rapidly progressive, fatal neurodegenerative illnesses caused by an abnormal isoform of the native prion protein.
Of the most well known is Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), which involves neurotransmitter system dysregulation in animal and human models. Prion-mediated cytotoxicity may be blocked by N-methyl D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonists. Lithium is naturally a contender here, and while further research is needed, if you know of someone with a prion disease, it's worth experimenting.
Other types of neurogenerative diesases such as Parkinson's and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) can benefit by lithium with its ability to induce autophagy. Lithium in low doses is a well-known autophagy inducer that clears misfolded proteins and altered mitochondria from motor neurons.
Additionally, lithium preserves mitochondria and sustains their genesis. This effect is replicated by the drug Rapamycin, which is also an autophagy inducer but with a different mechanism from lithium.
It's been postulated that lithium given to healthy individuals who come from families who have some history of alcoholism can benefit. Lithium can give a rapid increase in mood elevation and sense of well being. It even provides a mild kick in libido.
Lithium may increase social ability and help improve social awkwardness.
Potential benefits of lithium of low-dose lithium supplementation do not stop there. Conditions such as Fibromyalgia, tension headaches, gout, to inhibition of herpes simplex viruses (HSV 1, HSV 2), adenovirus, cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, even the measles.
A condition that effects many individuals with male pattern baldness, called seborrheic dermatitis is a condition that involves a very greasy scalp and one that implicates a colonization by lipophilic yeasts of the genus Malassezia.
Lithium, taken orally or topically can inhibit GSK-3beta and result in a significant reduction in scalp sebum. While lithium also provides an anti-inflammatory effect, its actions are limited on the proteins that involve male pattern baldness. Still, it can cut down on the "itch" frequently experienced by those suffering hair loss.

Lithium has a bad reputation, and whether that is because it's a prescription drug to treat bipolar disorders or that it can be toxic, in its natural form, it's a terrific mineral. Lithium is found naturally in the ocean and lakes, but regardless of its reputation, it is a very important mineral.
In today's drug oriented culture, it's easy to forget that Lithium is really a just a mineral. The prescription variety is known as Lithium as carbonate, which is very poorly absorbed. One unfavorable aspect of prescription lithium is that it can cause hair loss, suppress the thyroid and slow down kidney filtration.
These above described actions could be some of the reasons why lithium isn't favored, but in reality it's all about the kind of lithium and the dose that matters.
You might have heard that smoking significantly reduces the risk of Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. I believe there two primary reasons for this, the first is that cigarettes contain some lithium, and the other is that nicotine has similar effects to nicotinic acid or vitamin B3, but that's another story. Beyond that, Lithium preserves gray matter in aging brains, but more accurately it helps increase your gray matter volume.
Technically what lithium does is protect neurons from excitotoxicity by inhibiting N-methyl-D-aspartate. This is better known as glutamate toxicity, such as what occurs with central nervous system disorders and sensitivity to MSG (monosodium glutamate).
In allopathic medicine, the therapeutic effects of prescription Lithium require large dosing for this carbonate form. This large dosing creates a toxic effect, such as those mentioned earlier.
However, Lithium in the form as Orotate or Aspartate is much better absorbed and only a fraction is needed to do what it was originally intended for. The difference is over 60 times less lithium, which means significantly less toxicity. You can virtually eliminate any toxicity just by taking Omega-3 fatty acids and some vitamin E.
One indication of the human need for lithium is that prison inmates, particulary those who are in for violent offenses typically have 400 times less lithium in their hair than the rest of us.
For reasons unknown, their uptake of protective lithium is very low. A similar finding has also been found in an deficiency of Omega-3 fatty acids, since both Lithium and Omega-3 protect against depression and violent behavior.
If there were a way to cut down on violent crimes, it would make better sense to treat our water supplies with natural lithium salt, instead of neurotoxic fluoride.
Lithium has been found to do some extraordinary things. It can strongly prevent Alzheimer's disease, prevent and halt the progression of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), it can protect against Parkinson's and it promotes autophagy, which a process of cleaning up folded proteins that shouldn't be present in the brain.
Since Lithium protects against glutamate toxicity, it also protects against stroke. Normally our brains literally shrink with age, but on Lithium, they actually grow instead. This is amazing "insurance" against the prospect of becoming a "vegetable" or rather, our brain becoming a vestigial organ.
More on Lithium in the next daily topic.

Glaucoma is an eye disease that damages the optic nerve and retina. There is normal-tension glaucoma that occurs without increased pressure, and then there is a more severe form which involves increased ocular pressure in the eye.
Normal-tension glaucoma can be helped with the herb, gingko biloba. According to a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover trial, 120 milligrams of the extract can improve visual fields.
However, there is much more than can be done. While most opthalmologists believe the cause of glaucoma is unknown, research done in the 1960's showed that an adrenal cortical extract helped to normalize glaucoma. This includes the more severe form of glaucoma that involves ocular pressure.
A-C Carbamide, is a product by Standard Process Products, which is essentially urea, a byproduct of urine. Urea acts as an osmotic regulator, helping to balance out the electrolytes in glaucoma aqueous fluid.
A disruption of fluid balance causes an accumulation of fluid in the eye, therefore increasing pressure. Essentially the real cause of glaucoma is adrenal fatigue, and when these glands are not working properly, fluid balance and lymph flow is not properly regulated.
A very helpful supplement also by Standard Process Products is called Iplex. This contains various tissues and glandulars which also helps with fluid balance in the eye.
For very severe cases, two other treatments would help if the supplements do not work within six-months. This includes FSM (Frequency Specific Microcurrent) and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). FSM is excellent for adrenal fatigue and helps with fluid and lymphatic flow, and HBOT is excellent for reoxygenating the eye tissue.
Next, we'll move the discussion of treatment to cataracts. This condition was thought to be caused by sun exposure, but the opposite is true. The eyes require some UVB exposure and to deny them with the constant use of sun glasses could actually increase your risk. Using sunglasses while driving is okay, since car windows actually block out UVB radiation and only allow UVA to pass through. UVA is the "bad" kind you really want to filter out.
Cataracts are believed to form through the process of glycation, which is a cross-linking of collagen sugars together. Think of this as Fibrosis or hardened collagen. Russian scientists discovered that cataract progression can be halted, even reversed to an extent with the use of topical N-acetyl-carnosine.
Note that "regular" carnosine will not work, the product to look out for is in liquid form as N-acetyl-carnosine. These drops must be used daily, preferably twice in a day and used for at least 6-months period of time to evaluate its effectiveness.
As far as prevention, keeping your glucose and insulin levels at optimal or at least normal levels is the best way to keep this condition from ever occuring.

In a recent study, three nutrients were found to work especially well for the prevention of macular degeneration as well as improvements to the fundus area of the eye. The fundus involves the area which is occupied by the optic nerve and vessels. The combination of omega-3 fatty acids, co-enzyme Q10, and acetyl-L-carnitine.
Improvements were noted in three to six months of usage.
One of the most amazing treatments for Macular Degeneration involves the use of a therapy called frequency specific microcurrent or FSM. In layman's terms FSM tunes your body's cells frequency to the "correct radio frequency."
The outcome of this therapy is a significant amount of oxygen reaches the diseased tissues or area of poor circulation. Many tissues become impaired simply due to ischemia or lack of oxygen.
A device similiar to FSM is was originally used to treat macular degeneration called microcurrent stimulation (MCS). However, FSM has been found to be superior due to its effects that occur in areas beyond the eyes themselves.
Both devices work by sending electrical signals in millionths of an ampere. The overall effect in addition to increased oxygen is the physiologic effects that occur.
For example, FSM increases ATP, the energy molecule itself that all of our cells use for energy by 500%. Protein synthesis is increased by 70%.
FSM also tackles inflammation and helps the surrounding tissues with fluid balance. When a patient is treated by an experienced technician, familiar with eye treatments with this device, the results can come literally within less than a half-hour. In other words, a patient's visual score based on a standard eye chart can improve on several levels in a single session.
In Part 3 of this topic, will discuss natural treatments for Glaucoma and Cataracts.

Most optometrists have little idea that nutrition can determine your future vision, sight vision that is.
Starting with near sightedness (Myopia), Vitamin D levels should be checked and measuring your 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels will serve you right if you're in doubt.
A lack of vitamin D, which is epidemic world wide is a major factor in vision loss. If you receive very little sun exposure or live well north of the equator, loading up on 5,000 to 10,000 International Units of Vitamin D could bring on changes over several months.
Another factor is wearing out eye muscles used for focusing, which is from reading close up too much. Eye glasses which are prescribed for distance should never be used for nearsightedness because it will worsen vision quickly.
If this doesn't work after 6-months or so, laser correction works very well for myopia (not good for far sighted though). In the case of far sightedness, look no further than hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a structure of mucopolysaccharide composed of hydrophilic molecules of Glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine which hold up to a thousand times its own weight in water, serving to lubricate various body tissues.
While it has been widely speculated for some time that oral hyaluronic acid is not very absorbable through the gut, this has been proven wrong in clinical settings and from my own personal experience.
Many age-related vision loss disorders are typically onset from high glucose and insulin levels. These include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts.
Among diabetic patients, a very common condition is retinopathy.
Conventional medicine knows nothing about treating this, with exception to some very primitive and potentially destructive measures. When circulation is impaired, the body tries to compensate for this by upregulating vasoendothelial growth factor (VEGF). Unfortunately, this only increases pressure in the eye and doctors resort to cauterization, which is "doctorese" for burning off these growths.
I've seen this condition reversed in a very short time on many, many occasions.
Several eye disorders can benefit from a similar therapy, which involves a series of intravenous treatments of various vitamins, minerals and other treatments.
In order to save vision, a course of 20 to 30 treatments of EDTA chelation. EDTA stands for Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic Acid. It's a synthetic amino acid which binds to various metals and calcium. This is dripped in slowly over a period of approximately three hours into the blood stream by intravenous injection. Blood tests are taken to determine the condition of your kidneys to insure healthy filtration.
This therapy is conducted maximally 3 times per week. This therapy effectively removes offending metals from the circulatory system. The result is improved blood flow.
Other types of IV drips are also critical such as thiamine, magnesium, Taurine, and Vitamin C.
Another very important therapy involves a series of hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments (HBOT), and typically 10 to 20 of these are needed. This helps to re-oxyenate the eyes and to stimulate growth factors needed for repair. It also reduces inflammation in all affected areas.
Finally, a natural supplement protocol is also critical. Supplements such as magnesium, lipoic acid, Selenium, B-complex, Quercetin, Taurine, Zinc, NAC, Omega-3 fatty acids, especially krill oil since it contains astaxanthin should be taken regularly.
If the patient is a diabetic, then the fat soluble form of B1, called Benfotiamine is a must. Diabetics cannot retain the water soluble thiamine which would normally protect against eye disorders such as retinopathy and other conditions pertaining to glycative damage (advance glycation end products or AGE's).
Will continue this discussion in Part 2.

If you are experiencing any of the following such as high triglycerides, high cholesterol, severe osteoporosis, severe angina of the heart and of your legs (claudication), cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, being overweight then you have an insulin problem.
Insulin is the common denominator in everything about your health. The way to treat virtually all of the so-called chronic diseases of aging is to control insulin itself.
Centenarian studies show no health consistency at all except that they all have relatively low insulin and glucose levels for their age, along with low triglycerides for their age.
Some doctors have a mistaken notion that high triglycerides (blood fats) means that your diet is too high fat. Fat does not make fat. Sugar makes fat and sugar causes high triglycerides. Fat is good if it is good fat rather than transfats as in processed and junk foods.
The variability in lifespan is regulated by insulin. You can be a very thin person and have an excess insulin problem leading to high triglycerides and high cholesterol levels. Remember, the cause is excess insulin and a high lipid profile is the result.
Treating cholesterol is to treat the effect, not the cause as orthodox medicine is doing.
Excess insulin applies to all people and children too. It's our diet. The trouble begins when insulin cannot get into our cells due to super saturation of grains, starches and sugars.
Insulin resistance is the basis of all of the chronic disease of aging because insulin resistance itself is actually the disease of aging. Modern medicine is symptomology or the treatment of symptoms. The treatment of symptoms is a business, not a medical therapy.
A lesser known fact is that insulin also stores the mineral, magnesium. But if cells become resistant to insulin, we cannot store magnesium and we lose it through urination.
Adequate intracellular magnesium is absolutely essential to health and most especially heart health. Calcium restricts and magnesium relaxes. So when we are low in magnesium and most everybody is, then we have a constant restriction of blood vessels which guarantees the aging process.
Sugar and carbohydrates are killing millions of people as well as causing accelerated aging of the population.
Think of insulin as a sugar (carbohydrate) disease. When we can't store magnesium because we have eaten too much sugar and carbohydrates and consequently developed insulin resistance, we begin to lose magnesium, blood vessels constrict, blood pressure rises, energy goes down, and aging is on the fast track along with heart disease.
High insulin is the cause of high cholesterol and plaque buildup in the arteries. Instead of taking cholesterol (statin) drugs, reduce insulin by getting on a lifetime diet of very low sugar, carbohydrates.
High insulin generates a great abundance of free radicals, especially in the mitochondria. This becomes a viscious cycle as free radicals themselves are a cause of insulin resistance.
Insulin also causes the retention of sodium causing the retention of fluid, which also causes high blood pressure, and congestive heart failure.
Congestive heart failure is widespread.
Conventional doctors treat the symptom of fluid accumulation with diuretics to reduce the water. Change the diet to low sugar and low refined carbohydrates would be the true therapy and restore health without the reliance of potassium draining diuretics, which often call for additional potassium supplementation.
Many physicians "forget" about the importance of potassium and magnesium and only consider the diuretic action (the symptom).
Insulin influences nitric oxide adversely, a critical gaseous substance needed to relax arteries. Insulin limits available nitric oxide, causing vascular restriction.
Pharmaceutical companies have decided to run with the idea that since those who are insulin resistant have impaired blood flow and circulation, they have doctors believe they are prime candidates for Viagra (Sildenafil Citrate). No question the drug may help, however prevention of the symptom would be preferable.
High-glycemic foods are the cause of almost every major impairment, yet to "modern medicine" they are all treated like symptoms. The number of afflictions are too numerous to mention, however it's worth noting that cancer risk is highly correlated with high insulin.
Of course there are going to be times when eating these foods is going to be convenient and kind of fun once in a while. I'll even break out the Count Chocula cereal, by General Mills once every few years. Although I'll use raw, pasture-fed milk instead of the pasteurized variety known to spike insulin sky-high.
During these times of indulgence, I am always prepared. The most important consideration is my antioxidant intake. That is to say that I will take some potent antioxidants ahead of the meal. This practice limits the insulin release from the meal and buffers much of the damage that would occur without them.
The other important measure is to pre-load myself with a good probiotic. Beneficial bacteria can significantly dampen the desire to over eat sweets and refined carbohydrates. This is one of my primary methods to keep my appetite for refined sugars to a minimum.

Low functioning thyroid is becoming a modern day epidemic and maybe it's no surprise considering how today's modern foods and environmental toxins can impair both the liver and the thyroid.
One obvious sign of low thyroid is low energy and while this could be indicative of an iodine deficiency or thyroid hormone, it may also involve the pituitary-adrenal axis. To restore full thyroid function requires a complete restoration of the hypothalmic pituitary-adrenal axis or HPTA. In other words, if one or more of these glands are not functioning properly, it can affect the system as a whole.
I would suggest starting out with a product called Thytrophin, made by Standard Process Products. Additionally, supplemental iodine to satisfy the body's requirements. If there is significant loss of energy or fatigue, would recommend the inclusion of other glandular products, also by Standard Process. These are Drenamin for the adrenal glands, and Pituitrophin PMG for the pituitary gland. Both made by Standard Process products.
Additional indications for adrenal and pituitary glandular extracts are problems with hypoglycemia or experiencing abnormal depression and anxiety.
Important notes on iodine. When insufficient iodine is present, peroxidase enzymes wreak havoc in the cells potentially initiating inflammation of the
thyroid, such as thyroiditis (Hashimoto's or Grave's) disease. Very large doses of iodine have been instrumental in the recovery of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
Unfortunately, most physicians are reluctant about iodine, due to
their belief that extra iodine will hasten Hashimoto's, not allowing it
to recover. All the medical textbooks state this, so it may not feel easy to buck their advice by taking additional iodine.
While iodine will help the thyroid increase the production of hormone when needed, it usually inhibits over-production of the thyroid by satiating its need for iodine. Until recently, iodine was something to take only in small doses, per the RDA (Recommendated Daily Allowances).
The best sources of iodine still remain unclear by the experts, so experimentation is your best option. What makes you feel the best will ultimately answer this question.
To begin investigating your iodine needs, you'll want to test your current levels. This is achieved per iodine loading test. If you reach 90% saturation, meaning your body is excreting over 90% of the iodine you are ingesting, you are one of the rare few who have adequate iodine levels.
Another option is to try some food based sources of iodine, such as types of seaweed as kombuy and fucus, which are considered whole foods. If you do not feel all that different consider taking potentially more therapeutic types of iodine. These include Iosol and Lugol's solution.
In some individuals, long term insufficient iodine levels lead to diminished capacity to absorb iodine. For these cases, the inclusion of vitamin C, magnesium and natural sea salt and make some difference. Ultimately, when in doubt seek out a competent medical professional, knowledgable in this area. You may need to seek other opinions since there is a lot of division in this area.

Constipation is another very frequently associated sign of low thyroid function and most likely it is a result of low stomach acid secretion and poor circulation. Fiber just isn't always the answer, as it's often touted to be.
Other signs of low functioning thyroid are decreased heart rate, low ejection fraction, cardiac output, abdominal obesity. Try inserting your index fingernail using the non-dominant hand into the thumb cuticle on the same hand. If you experience pain in the sternum area, that could serve as a warning sign.
Mental fog, memory loss, headaches, dizziness are still other signs. If you're starting to notice swelling under the eyes, or "bags" this is a result of fluid accumulation.
Going to the doctor's office isn't a clear path of thyroid function diagnosis, as millions world wide are frequently missed despite symptoms. The reason is that tests are not sensitive to thyroid hormone resistance. This phenomenon is similar to insulin resistance. Merely having a glucose reading isn't going to reveal the full story. Unfortunately, tests to measure thyroid sensitivity no longer exist.
To test for a thyroid imbalance, I recommend the Barnes test. Place an oral thermometer by your bedside. If using a standard thermonmeter, make sure to shake it down to 96 degrees before preparing for sleep.
Upon awakening, remain in bed and place the thermometer under your armpit for 10 minutes.
A reading of between 98.2 and 97.2 is considered normal. If your temperature falls below this range, it indicates probabile low thyroid function or hypothyroid condition. If it's above this range, there is potential for overactive thyroid or hyperthyroidism.
While men can take their temperature any time of the month, women who menstruate should only test on the second or third day after menstrual flow begins. However, before the first menstrual period or after menopause, the temperature may be taken anytime day of the month.

It should be known that low thyroid function significantly increases the risks of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, and of course hair loss. Yet, there are other more subtle clues that something is not quite right with the thyroid.
Poor circulation is an excellent initial clue, especially having cold hands and feet. Do you lack color in your skin? Blood circulation to the skin can fall well below 50% of normal, and in fact the frequent complaints of dry and cracked skin are a sign of insufficent fatty acids. However, this deficiency isn't dietary related, it is the body's inability to deliver its supply of fatty acids to the skin due to poor circulation.
Poor circulation not only limits fatty acid delivery, it also greatly diminishes nutrient supplies to the skin. In my view, hair loss which includes male pattern baldness takes a serious hit in this department.
Various complaints that send patients to see their doctor are symptoms of low thyroid. Everything from bacterial, viral, respiratory, sinus and urinary tract problems all can stem from low thyroid. Typically these are symptomatically treated instead of the underlying issue being addressed.
Antibiotics are the "tools" of the conventional physican's trade. In both children and adults, everything from allergies and asthma to middle-ear-infections and sore throats are treated with band-aids, but still it is a common sign of low thyroid function.
It's quite apparent that today, it is becoming almost "normal" to see so many patients taking prescription medications for anxiety and depression. Subtle forms of persuation by way of advertisements and heavily compensated psychiatrists make taking anti-depressants seem like a fashion trend instead of a last report measure.
So maybe it's no surprise either that low thyroid function is a signficant cause of anxiety and depression. The real tragedy here is that those suffering from male pattern balding are suffering from a double-whammy--that is if they are taking prescription anti-depressants. The typical variety are SSRI's or Serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
They can make hair loss worse by increasing levels of the hormone prolactin while also potentially ruining the natural sex drive. If your wife or girlfriend suffers from abnormal, heavy menstrual bleeding, this is another sign of low thyroid.
